About the event
What lies behind the facades, walls, and closed windows? What horizons open up where we long ago stopped looking for them?
IMPOSSIBLE HORIZONS is a site-specific dance performance in public space and a German-Czech co-production by the situation productions company. An international team of dancers from Prague, Dresden, and Berlin invites the audience on a journey through the Háje neighborhood, where familiar surroundings reveal themselves from a new perspective.
Five performers move through the streets, buildings, rooftops, and courtyards, entering into a dialogue with the city, which is in constant motion. Dance becomes an opportunity to step away from familiar perspectives and view the surrounding space with fresh eyes.
The choreography also draws on material gathered during interviews with local residents about their experiences with housing. The city transforms into a stage set in which windows, walls, and facades give voice to their stories, and familiar places take on new meanings.

situation productions
The Dresden-based dance company situation productions, under the artistic direction of Anna Till, creates productions at the intersection of dance, performance and installation. The company’s work is characterised by a particular interest in the intertwining of past and present, as well as a passion for interdisciplinary experimentation. At the heart of this are humour, sensuality and a poetic approach to the world around us.
Most recently, the company created the pieces SWAN LAKE IN SNEAKERS (2023), a production for young audiences that was invited to the DANCE PLATFORM GERMANY in 2024, CIRCLING (2023), a piece for five dancers and a live band in co-production with Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig and HELLERAU - European Centre for the Arts Dresden, and EYES OPEN, EYES CLOSED (2025), a dance piece about ageing, which premiered at HELLERAU Dresden.
Dramaturg and director Nora Otte, set and costume designer Konstanze Grotkopp, musician Johannes Till, lighting designer Martin Mulik and producer Ulrike Melzwig are integral members of the artistic team.
