About the event
Join, add, unite, group, assemble, collect and also meet are some of the meanings of the Basque verb BATU. Etymologically the verb comes from BAT, which means ONE.
The BATU performance is based on experimentation with straight lines and their multiplication. Together with the children, they create unique worlds in which play, creativity, and interaction come together to form a one-of-a-kind shared experience. BATU is a great game of lines, paths, intersections, spaces, maps, structures, combinations, and discoveries. A simple rectangle gives rise to a space for drawing, folding, connecting, composing, and building. A space that invites collaborative creation, curiosity, and the joy of discovery. A collective happening for the whole family.

ARTEFACTOS BASCOS is a platform for multidisciplinary projects for children founded by the Basque artist Ieltxu Ortueta. Since 2003 he has lived in Brazil, and since 2016 he has been creating in the city of Cunha. As a performer, art historian, and graphic artist, he develops interactive projects that combine visual arts, performance, and graphic design.
He seeks collective yet unique creations in which every child is an artist. His work has been presented in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Cuba, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Finland, and Palestine.
He is a member of the VINCULAR Network, SMALL SIZE, and CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brazil.
