Summer residency program for contemporary dance artists
DanceConnected offers a residency opportunity in the Galaxie Cultural Station in Prague's South Town in the summer of 2025. The residency is intended for creative entities working in the field of contemporary dance and movement theater who are looking for a space for focused creation, research, and artistic dialogue.
From July 1, 2025, we will open the equipped DanceConnected rehearsal room with a 10 × 7 m stage (ballet floor, sound system), which offers facilities for individual and group work.
Galaxy
The Galaxie in Motion project represents one of the key initiatives of the DanceConnected association for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. DanceConnected is involved in the transformation of the former Galaxie multiplex in Jižní Město into a vibrant artistic hub. This temporary multidisciplinary space connects dance, theater and other artistic disciplines with the aim of creating conditions for the creation, preparation and presentation of dance projects that respond to the specific possibilities of this place. However, Galaxie is more than just a space - it is a platform for collaboration, dialogue and meetings of the artistic and wider public across experiences and focus.
In cooperation with partners – Dejvický divadlo, Minor divadlo, DAMU and the 4+4 days in motion festival – we want to bring a varied program to Galaxia, including dance performances, residencies, workshops, discussions and community events. Our main goal is to revitalize this place, support creativity, seek new opportunities for cooperation with Galaxia partners and, above all, bring dance and theater closer to the local community of Jižní Město and a wider audience.
Localities
The residency will take place at the Galaxie Cultural Station, in the Háje district (Prague 11), typical of housing estate architecture from the 1970s and 1980s, right at the final station of metro line C.
We offer
Free space for focused creation with facilities for 7–10 days.
Production support.
Promotion of the residency within the DanceConnected and Galaxie communication channels.
The residency offer does not include a fee, travel expenses, or accommodation.
2 projects will be supported.

Deadline and announcement of results
Applications must be submitted by June 11, 2025.
We will publish the results by June 16, 2025.
